I did it. I actually did it! I signed a contract for my manuscript and editing is going to begin very soon!

Not many writers can say that they’ve gotten an offer to publish their book within weeks of submitting it for the first time – but I am one of the lucky few who can. I went into this imagining a string of rejections before someone would give me a chance. I’m amazed to have had the opposite response and am now a proud author for The Wild Rose Press.

To say ‘I needed this’ is an understatement. Writing my own novel/s has been my dream since I was a kid reading my Thoroughbred and Pony Pals books. It grew stronger as I graduated to fantasy and science fiction novels and then on to historical romances. Growing up, a family friend would greet me by asking “written anything lately?” I’m looking forward to soon sending him his own copy of my printed novel with my thanks for his offbeat encourangement to a fifteen year old dreamer.

I’ve had a lot of awful things going on in my world over the last decade that culminated in the loss of my mum less than six months ago. But one thing I am especially glad of is that she got to read this one novel, even if she never got to see it published. Now, I’m looking forward to sharing it with everyone else.

Thank you to Nancy and RJ from The Wild Rose Press for this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to see Exceptionally Unconventional become a flesh-and-blood printed book in the not so distant future.
